About Us

Our mission is to help meet the basic needs of children throughout our communities and in doing so, help make them feel loved in the midst of displacement or family trauma. So Loved Kids Clothing Closet was founded in 2019 primarily for Ripley County families but due to demand and better awareness, expanded to Franklin, Decatur, Jefferson, Switzerland, Decatur and Dearborn Counties. We provide children, 18 and under, with clothing, shoes, toiletries, diapers, and other needs as they arise.

Upon seeing first-hand the unmet needs of children in our area, many within the foster system, the idea of So Loved began. Priority is given to foster families who willingly provide shelter and care to these children but may have little else to offer. So Loved volunteers step in and fill the order (sizes provided) with everything from socks to diapers to coats. The donation center is located in Batesville, at the Batesville Area Resource Center near the local food pantry and health clinic.

So Loved Closet is an all-volunteer organization that would not be possible without the support of our communities. We are truly grateful for everyone who volunteers or donates - be it items, sorting the clothing or providing financial support to fill in gaps– because without you there would be many more children in need.

Thanks to the support of generous donors, we have been able to fill over 8,000 orders for children since we started in October of 2019. This has allowed us to provide more than 37,500 outfits of new/gently used clothing, 8,000 bags of toiletries (shampoo, bodywash, toothbrush, toothpaste), plus 37,500 pairs of new socks and underwear to families in need. Shoes are also provided when we have them available. Guardians may submit orders seasonally as needed for the growing children.

Demand does not appear to be diminishing. We appreciate the donations to our nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that directly impacts those we serve and helps continue our mission.
